From Windsor to Gaza: Prophecy in a Week of Shifting Powers

September 14 – 20, 2025

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Weekly World Watch. Each week we take a closer look at world events through the lens of Bible prophecy, seeking to understand how God’s hand is guiding the nations toward His purpose.

UK–US Special Relationship

King Charles welcomed US President Donald Trump to Windsor Castle, praising his commitment to solving global conflicts. Trump, in turn, hailed the “special relationship” between Britain and America. Beyond the ceremony, the visit secured £150 billion in US investment into the UK, including £22 billion from Microsoft.

From a prophetic perspective, this recalls Ezekiel 38 and the “merchants of Tarshish with the young lions” (Ezekiel 38:13), pointing to the enduring influence of Britain and her English-speaking allies .

Russian Violation of NATO Airspace

Britain summoned the Russian ambassador after drones violated Polish and Romanian airspace in what officials called an “unprecedented violation”. NATO allies scrambled jets in response.

This boldness reflects Daniel’s description of a king who causes “astounding devastation” (Daniel 8:23-24), reminding us of Russia’s role as the latter-day “king of the north” .

UK’s Vulnerable Undersea Cables

Sky News reports that Russia has been covertly mapping Britain’s critical undersea cables, raising fears of sabotage. These cables carry everything from internet to military communication.

National ability to function now hangs “literally by a thread” – an image that recalls Daniel 12:1 and the time of unparalleled trouble before deliverance comes .

Tanks Roll Into Gaza City

Israeli tanks entered Gaza City in a major offensive against Hamas, drawing international condemnation. Defence Minister Israel Katz declared, “Gaza is burning.”

Zechariah 12 describes Jerusalem’s rulers as a fire that will burn up the surrounding nations. This is a sobering picture of events in the Middle East. For more on the idea of a coming “false peace,” watch this short video: YouTube – Time of False Peace .

UK Recognition of Palestine

The UK announced it will formally recognise Palestinian statehood, joining France in moving toward a two-state vision. Britain placed conditions on Israel, not Palestine, in this process.

Ezekiel 38 shows Tarshish questioning Gog’s actions, but not defending Israel militarily. Britain’s turning away from Israel echoes the pattern of ancient Tyre, which once supported Israel but later turned against her (Isaiah 23:6-9) .

Israel’s Iron Beam Laser

Israel revealed its new Iron Beam laser defence system will be operational by the end of the year. Unlike costly interceptors, the laser offers almost unlimited, near-zero-cost defence against rockets and drones.

Ezekiel 38 speaks of Israel dwelling “safely” – or, perhaps, over-confidently (Ezekiel 38:14-15). High-tech defences may foster that confidence, but they cannot stop Gog when the time comes .

Closing Thoughts

This week we’ve seen deepening alliances, rising tensions, new technologies, and continuing upheaval in the Middle East. Each piece fits into the prophetic picture pointing toward the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, when God’s kingdom will be established on earth.
