Watching the news today can be a heavy experience. Wars, unrest, and natural disasters fill our screens. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine grinds on. Anti-Israeli sentiment rises in many nations, fuelled by ongoing struggles in Gaza and the West Bank. Floods and earthquakes add to the sense that our world is shaking on every side.
From a Faith Fixers perspective, we don’t turn away from these realities—but we watch them with Bible in hand. The Scriptures remind us that turmoil has always been part of the story of nations, but they also point us forward to a time when God’s purpose will bring peace and justice to the earth.
The land of Israel, so central to today’s headlines, is also central to God’s promises. Prophecy tells us there will come a righteous ruler, incorruptible and wise, who will reign forever—the Lord Jesus Christ. No human solution, whether a two-state plan or a peace treaty, can bring lasting stability. Only Christ’s return will fill the earth with God’s glory, just as the prophet Habakkuk declared:
“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14, ESV)
That’s why we encourage you to follow the Weekly World Watch for a biblical outlook on today’s headlines. And take time to view the YouTube video Israel: Land Divided; Fate Decided. Is this unfolding scene a prelude to Jesus’ return? You decide.
