Why Believe the Bible?
Why should anyone believe that the Bible is truly God’s message to humanity?
We think there are many good reasons, and some are nothing short of miraculous.
First, the very existence of the Bible is a miracle of preservation.
It was written between 3,500 and 2,000 years ago, over a period of about 1,500 years, by around 40 different authors, in different languages, cultures, and continents. Yet it fits together as one unified story, from the ancient prophecies of the Old Testament to their fulfilment in the life of Jesus, and prophecies about the future that are still unfolding today.
A discovery in 1947 added remarkable weight to this claim, predating previous manuscripts by a thousand years. The Dead Sea Scrolls, found in caves near the Dead Sea, date back to the 3rd century BC. These scrolls include nearly all the books of the Old Testament (except Esther) and confirm that what we read today has been preserved with incredible accuracy for over two millennia.
Even earlier, in the 3rd century BC, the Hebrew Scriptures were translated into Greek, known as the Septuagint. What’s fascinating is that it already contained the prophecies about Jesus that were later fulfilled in his life, long before his birth. That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident.
The Bible is no ordinary book. It is both ancient and alive, a divine record of God’s dealings with humanity, and a guide for how we can live wisely and faithfully today. In an uncertain world, the Bible still speaks with clarity, relevance, and hope, pointing us toward truth, purpose, and a future that God Himself has promised.
